The Cyber Essentials Certificate
The government has identified that Cyber Crime is on the up and you don’t have to be a large multi-national for it to happen to you! Cyber attacks are costing UK businesses thousands of pounds each year. The government has responded to this business issue and introduced an initiative to support and keep businesses safe with the Cyber Essentials Certification scheme that sets out a good baseline of cyber security suitable for all organisations. It is a prevention tool that will protect and safeguard your business against common cyber threats.
The government’s strategy for Cyber Essentials is to make the UK of the most secure places to do business in cyberspace. It is helping proactive IT support organisation like Arcsus create awareness amongst businesses to realise the risk of internet-borne threats.
The scheme addresses these key controls:
- Secure configuration of all components of an IT infrastructure
- Boundary firewalls and internet gateways
- Access controls and administrative privilege management
- Patch management
- Malware protection
- Process driven IT policies
The Cyber Essentials Certificate can prevent around 80% of cyber attacks and help drive business efficiency, save money and improve productivity by streamlining processes. It also enables businesses to bid for government contracts and improves performance on business tenders.
With one in four businesses reporting a cyber breach or attack in the past 12 months this is an issue that cannot be ignored. It can have a crippling effect on bottom line through loss of money, business critical data, and loss of customer data not to mention the lengthy periods of disruption.
Cyber attackers work by exploit weaknesses in your IT systems and software.
Arcsus IT Solutions has been awarded Cyber Essentials Certification, demonstrating our commitment to safeguarding our systems and data, and reinforcing our capabilities as a provider of managed security services and most of all delivering peace of mind to our customers.

The drive towards Cyber Essential certification is a stepping stone toward the introduction of the new General Data Protection Regulation being enforced by government on 25th May 2018. The upcoming regulation will fine companies for Cyber breaches.
